Moldova strengthens public finances in line with European standards with Slovenia’s support
The Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF) of Slovenia will continue to support Moldova in the process of transposing and applying European legislation in the field of public finance, in the context of the country’s European integration path. Finance Minister Victoria Belous and CEF Director Jana Repanšek have discussed the subject in Chisinau.
The officials discussed the current state of cooperation between Finance Ministry and CEF, the results of joint activities carried out to date, ongoing projects and priorities for the coming period.
Particular emphasis was placed on the support provided by CEF for the transposition and application of European legislation in the field of public finance, an important area in the process of preparing Moldova for accession to the European Union. The discussions also covered the training and professional development of public-sector employees, as well as the strengthening of institutional expertise.
Minister Victoria Belous expressed appreciation for the support provided by CEF throughout the partnership and for the organization’s contribution to developing the professional skills of Finance Ministry’s employees, as well as to the exchange of European experience and best practices.
For her part, CEF Director Jana Repanšek reaffirmed the organization’s willingness to continue cooperating with the Finance Ministry and to support initiatives focused on professional development and strengthening institutional expertise in the field of public finance.
The cooperation between Moldova and CEF dates back to 2015, when the country joined the organization. CEF is an international organization headquartered in Slovenia that supports the development of professional capacities and the exchange of experience in the field of public finance through training and cooperation programmes for public officials in Southeast Europe.
