The National Army today received 29 HMMWV armoured vehicles on behalf of the Government of the United States, in the context of the consolidation of Moldova’s defence capacities.
Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii stressed that the military hardware received was proof that the joint efforts of consolidating the defence capacities yielded results.
„This consignment of assistance represents a telling example of the efficient and long-lasting cooperation between the defence institutions of Moldova and the USA, which confirms that we have the same goals – to ensure the peace and security. We can do this only through solidarity and joining efforts,’’ the minister said.
The official thanked the American Government for this important donation, which fits into the process of modernization of the National Army and contributes to the safety of Moldova’s citizens.
”All these military technology units will be delivered to the servicemen of the Fulger Special Battalion, in order to enhance the interoperability with other armies during training activities and joint exercises. We will continue making efforts for the endowment of the National Army at international standards, so that the military are able to fulfill their constitutional mission of the country’s defence,’’ Minister Nosatii noted.
For her part, Charge d’affaires of the USA in Moldova Daniela DiPierro said that the United States was proud to cooperate with the people and government of Moldova, in order to modernize the National Army and better equip the military of Moldova, to ensure the security of the citizens.
„In the last five years, the United States has provided donations worth 90 million dollars for the modernization of Moldova’s National Army. The donation of 8.9 million dollars which we mark today shows the generosity and the commitment of the American people to enhance the security and well-being of the Moldovans. You are those who edify a prosperous and safe future for Moldova. Thank you for service!’’ the U.S. official said.
Those 29 HMMWV armoured vehicles were produced in 2024 and delivered to the National Army in last January. The military technology was provided through the Foreign Military Financing Programme of the USA.
