Romania as main trading partner of Moldova
Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/- Romania is the main trading partner of Moldova. Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Daniel Ionita made the statement in an exclusive interview for MOLDPRES.
"We have to act to improve the way the goods in the two parts are moving. Our trade exchanges have increased from year to year, and last year we recorded a historical value of them over 1 billion dollars. It requires an increase in infrastructure and to improve trade procedures," he said.
The ambassador also approached Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline, the construction of which was launched earlier this week. He described the gas pipeline as one of strategic importance, which “will contribute to ensuring energy security in Moldova”. "There is a schedule agreed by both sides to complete the work. At the same time, the Romanian side was committed to complete all the works within 23 months from the start of their work ", Ionita said.
Official statistics show that Moldovan exports to the Romanian market last year amounted to 792.3 million dollars. Thus, Romania strengthened its position as the main market for Moldovan goods, after an increase in Moldovan goods deliveries on the Romanian market in 2018 by 31.9%, almost double the previous year.
