European Parliament reaffirms strong support for Moldova's European integration

European Parliament reaffirms its commitment to support the Republic of Moldova on its path to European Union membership, in the context of an official meeting held in Brussels between MEP Siegfried Mureșan and government delegation from Chisinau.

During the visit, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Eugeniu Osmochescu discussed with representatives of the European Parliament the key stages of the accession process and the strengthening of political and financial cooperation.

MEP Siegfried Mureșan, President of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova emphasized that Chisinau Government enjoys a solid parliamentary majority, obtained following the September elections, which provides it with "stability and predictability" to speed up the necessary reforms for European integration.

Additionally, Mureșan confirmed that the European Parliament will continue to advocate for advancing accession negotiations, including the opening of negotiation chapters, noting that the Republic of Moldova is "technically ready" for this crucial step. He stressed that the European Union must harness "favorable moment" created after the parliamentary elections to support the pace of reforms.

At the same time, the European official reiterated support for increasing Moldova's capacity to access and efficiently use European funds, including the resources from the European Growth Plan worth 1.9 billion euros for modernizing the economy and strengthening the country's resilience.

The meeting in Brussels confirms the continuity of high-level political dialogue and the joint commitment to advancing the Republic of Moldova on the path to European integration.
