Deputy PM says Moldova ready to advance in EU accession negotiations

The progress made by Moldova in the European integration process has been presented by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov at two major events dedicated to the expansion of the European Union and continental security: the EU-Western Balkans Summit and the Grand Continent Summit.

According to Cristina Gherasimov, the Moldovan authorities have continued with determination the necessary reforms and have managed to overcome multiple challenges.

"I spoke about what we've achieved in the past year, about the progress made and reforms carried out by Moldova, despite all the hybrid attacks it has faced. I shared how we managed to overcome many challenges and continue with determination on our path to the EU. Today, technically and politically, we are ready to move to the next stage in the EU accession negotiation process. I was delighted to hear that our country is cited as an example of resilience in the fight to defend democracy and the European dream," said Gherasimov.

On the sidelines of the Grand Continent Summit, Cristina Gherasimov had a meeting with Eleonore Caroit, the French Minister for Francophonie and International Partnerships. The discussions focused on ongoing projects in  Moldova and France's constant support for Moldovan citizens.

At the same time, the Deputy prime minister met with Oleksandra Matviiciuk, Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

"Her courage reminds us that the European path of Moldova and Ukraine means, first of all, safety, freedom and dignity for our people," stressed Cristina Gherasimov.

The participation in these two international meetings strengthens Moldova's position as an active and committed partner in the European project, at a crucial moment for regional security and stability.

The EU-Western Balkans Summit is the main platform where the European Union discusses with the countries from the region about enlargement, economic cooperation and security. At the recent meeting, European leaders reaffirmed that enlargement stayed a strategic priority and encouraged candidate countries to continue reforms in a context marked by major geopolitical challenges.

The Grand Continent Summit, organized by the Le Grand Continent magazine, is an international forum that brings together decision-makers, experts and opinion leaders, in order to discuss Europe's strategic directions: security, democracy, geopolitical transformations and the future of the European project. The event has become, in just a few years, an important stage for high-level dialogue and reflection on continental developments.

Both events give Moldova the opportunity to present its progress in the accession process, strengthen the support of partners, and assert itself as an engaged player in the debates on Europe's future.
