Government creates advisory group to support Moldova's European integration

The government will establish an advisory group made up of ten young individuals, in order to support the European integration process of Moldova and promote European values in communities throughout the country. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov today made statements to this effect, at a meeting with over 100 members of Euroclubs.

The group will be composed of 10 active young people from various regions who will work closely with authorities, in order to identify and implement solutions where needed and act as messengers of European values in their communities.

“All the applause our country has received is due to teamwork. You have done your part, we have done ours, and only together have we been able to achieve wonderful things over the past 12 months and be appreciated at the highest levels. I want us to continue working together; we have a lot of work to do, and your role is essential,” said the deputy PM.

EU Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piórko highlighted that the young people’s voice was essential in shaping the country's European trajectory and appreciated the pupils' and students' interest in education, reforms and development opportunities in the EU.

“I was pleased with the diversity of questions - from education opportunities in the EU and strengthening Moldova's education system to the reforms the country must undertake on the path to EU membership. Many were also curious about my professional journey. I happily shared my studies and diplomatic experience, including my current role as EU Ambassador to Moldova.”

The young individuals selected by the National Youth Council of Moldova will have the opportunity to participate in a study visit to Denmark, supported by the Danish Youth Council. They will learn best practices regarding young people’s involvement in decision-making processes, which they will later apply in their home communities.
