Government Commission for European Integration assessed results found in European Commission's Enlargement Package 2023

Chisinau, Nov. 23 /MOLDPRES/- The European Commission's Enlargement Package for 2023, the results and the next steps Moldova will take in joining the European Union were discussed at a meeting of the Government Commission for European Integration, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

He welcomed the country's progress included in the European Commission's report, published on November 8, emphasizing the importance of maintaining positive trends and dynamizing the processes - "We will move forward with the same motivation to deliver results and qualitatively implement our agenda of reforms. The Commission's conclusions make us responsible to work with even greater intensity to build Europe here, at home".

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said that the 9 conditions of the European Commission were achieved 94%, the rate that was the basis of the recommendation to start negotiations with our country. In the next period, the authorities' efforts will be focused on completing the processes initiated in the judiciary, deoligarization and strengthening the capacities of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.

Popescu also referred to the positive developments in the 33 chapters, noting that the country has progressed in areas such as public procurement, free movement of capital, financial services, social policies and foreign policy. According to the deputy prime minister, the improvement of the qualification in other fields will be directly related to the transposition of the European Union legislation, both in terms of the adoption of normative acts and in the part related to their implementation: "It is important to prioritize the European goal of our country and to show an unprecedented mobilization".

The commission members also referred to the possibilities to improve the National Mechanism for the coordination of European integration, especially the sectoral working groups, to ensure the elaboration of the national contribution to the Enlargement Package for 2024.
