EcoContact relaunches measures program to protect natural areas

EcoContact has announced the relaunch of Phase II of the measures program for the rehabilitation of community habitats in protected areas, a project intended for local public authorities and implemented within the project Improving the management of protected areas in the Republic of Moldova through institutional development, capacity building and habitat rehabilitation.

The program targets Orhei National Park and Codrii Nature Reserve, and local public authorities from these areas are invited to submit proposals for habitat rehabilitation measures. The estimated budget for each measure is 57,000 MDL, with funding intended to support concrete actions for the restoration and conservation of the natural environment.

“Phase II of the program provides local authorities with a detailed implementation manual, which includes a description of the available intervention measures, eligibility criteria for proposals, requirements for completing the proposal file, evaluation criteria, and details regarding the funding and monitoring of the implementation of selected measures. The proposal file must contain: the completed application form (Annex 2), which includes the estimated budget of the measure, signed and stamped; photo materials that clarify the proposed measure; the bill of quantities for carrying out the measure (WINSmeta forms 3, 5 and 7, if available); the technical project (if available); environmental documentation, including preliminary assessment or environmental impact assessment, if the measure falls under this requirement; and a guarantee of co-financing from the local public authority, representing 10% of the amount of the approved proposal,” EcoContact explains.

The deadline for submitting proposals is March 31, 2026. Files must be submitted exclusively in electronic format to procurari@ecocontact.md.

Phase II of the program represents an essential opportunity for local authorities to contribute to the conservation of protected areas, to restore degraded habitats, and to increase community involvement in the sustainable management of the environment. The program is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), as part of Austrian Development Cooperation, and by the financial contribution of local public authorities involved in implementing the interventions.
