Moldovan PM visits two major projects completed in Causeni with government's support
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today visited two impactful projects in the south-eastern Causeni district, implemented with government’s funding – the recently modernized wastewater treatment plant and the R26 road near the village of Zaim, currently under repair.
The wastewater treatment plant from Causeni is an important project for the town and for the entire district. After approximately 60 years with no major investments, the modernized plant was commissioned in June 2025.
Thanks to these investments, the town of Causeni now has a modern wastewater treatment and sewerage system, to which another ten localities of the district will be connected. This reduces water pollution, protects the environment and improves public health. “We must invest constantly in long-term solutions – in modern infrastructure, in environmental protection and in systems that ensure clean water for people and for nature,” noted Prime Minister Munteanu.
The project directly benefits approximately 16,000 residents of the town of Causeni, and once extended to other localities, its impact will increase to over 81,000 people. The total cost of the project amounts to 73.58 million lei, of which over 60 million lei was allocated from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (NFRLD), while the contribution of local public authorities was 12.8 million lei.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu also inspected the repair works on a segment of the R26 Bender – Causeni – Cimislia road between the town of Causeni and the village of Zaim. The road connecting the localities of Bender, Causeni and Cimislia is being repaired in line with European standards, after many years in which it was almost impassable.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, the mayor of Zaim, the site manager and the director of the State Road Administration discussed the progress of the works, other roads mentioned by mayors as repair priorities, as well as ongoing infrastructure projects.
Also in the Causeni district, the access road to the village of Opaci has been repaired, and the railway section connecting Bender, Causeni and Giurgiulesti is currently being rehabilitated. This year, more road segments of the district are to be repaired, including the Farladenii Noi – Ursoaia, Carnatenii Noi – Salcuta Noua and Causeni – Saiti segments.
