Moldovan foreign ministry's details on raising alert level for Ukraine
Chisinau, Feb. 20 / MOLDPRES /- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration informs citizens who are, transit or intend to travel on the territory of Ukraine that in the context of security developments in the vicinity of Ukraine, as well as the announcements of some airlines to suspend their flights to / from Ukraine, we recommend abstaining from non-essential travel, and to those on the territory of Ukraine to assess the need to stay in the territory of the neighboring country, the MAEIE press service has reported.
At the same time, the ministry strongly advises Moldovan citizens to avoid any travel to the eastern regions of Ukraine and to promptly adjust travel plans, depending on the security situation in the area and the announcements of the Ukrainian authorities.
In the event of staying on the territory of Ukraine, we urge Moldovan citizens to exercise caution when planning trips and to avoid areas where events are taking place with the participation of a large number of people. It is also important to check the availability of valid travel documents and the financial means needed to leave the country when needed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration continues to carefully analyze the evolution of the security situation, including from the perspective of maintaining the activity of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Kiev. Thus, the embassy in Kiev and the consulate in Odessa remain operational and act in the direction of providing consular assistance and protection to citizens on the territory of Ukraine.
In this context, we recommend that you regularly check the travel alerts issued by the ministry, including on the Telegram channel of the MFAEx Explains, or contact the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Kiev, the Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Odessa or the MAEIE Call Center.
