Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Nicolae Timofti has signed a decree on declaring the funerals of departed actor Mihai Volontir, 17 September, a day of mourning, as a token of deep sorrow caused by the passing away of an outstanding actor, active promoter of national and cultural values, signer of the Declaration of Independence of Moldova, film director and singer, the presidency's press service has reported.

Under the presidential decree, the state flags will be flown at half mast in all settlements of Moldova on 17 September and a moment of silence will be kept at 12:00.

The state-owned national radio and TV broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova will broadcast live the funerals and the ceremony of burial of actor Mihai Volontir.

The public administration recommends public authorities, enterprises and organisations not to carry out mass entertaining actions on 17 September. Editorial offices of newspapers, radio and television stations should take into account the specifics of the mourning day in editing publications and scheduling programmes.
