Moldovan presidents ends visit to Summit of European Political Community; reaffirms Moldova's European aspirations
Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 5 October participated in the summit of the European Political Community (EPC Summit), hosted by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in the city of Granada, Spain. The event brought together over 40 heads of state and government and the leaders of the European institutions, the presidential press service has reported.
During the meeting, the Moldovan president informed the European leaders about the fact that Moldova was on the forefront of the fight for democracy and the accession to EU was the only way for the country to protect its democracy. On the sidelines of the summit, the head of state had discussions with President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
Also, Maia Sandu participated in a cultural programme hosted by the Royal Family of Spain, King Filip the Sixth and Queen Letizia, at the Alhambra Palace from Granada – important monument of Moresque architecture from Spain.
