State providing support to families of children with disabilities: 13,000 children to receive 3,000 lei each per year

Families caring for children with disabilities will receive annual financial support from the state. A bill providing for a payment of 3,000 lei for each eligible child was passed today in Parliament during its second reading.

13,582 children in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from the measure. The assistance will be granted automatically, without applying for.

Over 41 million lei will be allocated annually from the state budget to implement the program.

The legislative initiative was proposed by MP Ludmila Adamciuc of the Action and Solidarity Party faction.

Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Protection, Health, and Family Adrian Belii announced during the plenary session that proposals and amendments regarding the bill had been submitted by MP Vladimir Odnostalco, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the General Legal Directorate, the Parliamentary Secretariat, as well as civil society organizations and experts in the field. All of these have been included in the bill.

The project aims to support families caring for children with disabilities by covering the additional costs associated with care, treatment, rehabilitation, and social integration, thereby helping to improve the beneficiaries’ standard of living and promote their social inclusion.

Currently, children with disabilities receive monthly social allowances until the age of 18. Children with severe disabilities receive 2,448.50 lei, those with significant disabilities—2,285.27 lei, and those with moderate disabilities—1,632.34 lei.
