Number of fraud attempts rising in Moldova: over 500 attempts reported to 112 in just one week
The authorities warn about the increasing number of fraud attempts, after 516 calls related to such cases have been registered at the 112 Service in the last seven days.
According to official data, this represents an average of approximately 74 calls per day, in which citizens reported being contacted by individuals falsely claiming to be representatives of public institutions, banks or other entities.
In most cases, scammers try to get personal or banking data, using various pretexts and invoking urgent situations.
In the context, the authorities urge citizens to exercise increased caution and avoid providing sensitive information during suspicious calls. It is also recommended to verify the caller’s identity, end the conversation in case of dubious requests and notify the competent institutions.
If faced with such situations, citizens are encouraged to call the single emergency number 112.
