Government simplifies reporting of workplace accidents and improves data collection
The management of data related to workplace accidents will be improved through a new mechanism for collecting and transmitting information. The Government has approved amendments to the Regulation on the procedure for investigating workplace accidents.
Data on workplace accidents will be collected by the State Labour Inspectorate, including those involving civilian personnel employed within public authorities and institutions with special status. These data will be taken from the reports submitted by employers and labour inspectors and transmitted to the National Bureau of Statistics in anonymised and aggregated form, in line with European standards.
An important measure targets the reduction of administrative burdens for employers. After reporting accidents to the State Labour Inspectorate, it will no longer be necessary to fill out the statistical questionnaire “Workplace Accidents”, thereby eliminating double reporting.
The new measures will help modernise the system for recording workplace accidents and strengthen institutional capacity for monitoring and analysing occupational risks. During the period 2019–2024, around 400–600 workplace accidents were recorded annually in the Republic of Moldova.
