Moldovan PM has talks with Belgian counterpart
PM Vasile Tofan in Brussels has had a meeting with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Bart De Wever. The discussions focused on Moldova’s European path, the security situation in the region and the challenges facing the country.
The two officials discussed Moldova’s accession process to the European Union and the importance of advancing it, based on its own merits and the progress achieved in implementing reforms. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan noted Moldova’s objective of opening negotiations on all chapters by the end of this year.
Another topic addressed was the regional security, in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine and its impact on Moldova. The discussions also covered the challenges posed by high energy prices and the hydrological crisis.
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized that the government would continue, at a sustained pace, the reforms necessary to prepare Moldova for accession to the European Union and to strengthen the country’s economic and energy resilience.
