Projectile fell in area of Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing

A projectile fell this morning in the area of Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing. The object ricocheted and struck a scheduled bus that was stationary near the barrier. As a result of the incident, a Border Police employee was slightly injured.

According to the Border Police, the incident occurred at around 9:38 a.m., following Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

“The projectile damaged the bus and the control booth, while a Border Police employee was slightly injured. No other casualties were reported. Operations at the border crossing have been suspended,” the institution announced.

In connection with the incident, traffic from the intersection of the R-30 and R-31 routes in Ștefan Vodă district toward Palanca has been temporarily suspended until the documentation and examination measures are completed.

“Patrol officers are redirecting vehicles toward Tudora. We urge drivers to avoid the area,” the General Inspectorate of Police said.

The Border Police, together with the Customs Service, is monitoring the situation in order to manage it and remains in contact with the competent authorities in Ukraine.

“Citizens are urged to refrain from traveling in this area. If they hear sounds characteristic of drones or explosions occurring near the border, they should remain calm, take shelter in a safe place inside their homes, and follow only the information communicated by the authorities,” the Border Police emphasized.

People are also asked not to approach any possible remnants of aircraft, ammunition, or other unknown objects and to immediately notify the authorities by calling the 112 emergency service.
