Moldovan government's secretary-general, after Association Council meeting: “The reforms we are completing are turning into opportunities for the country’s development”

The reforms implemented by Moldova are turning into concrete opportunities for the country’s development, according to Secretary-General of the Government Alexei Buzu. The official has made statements to this effect following the 10th meeting of the Moldova–European Union Association Council. The allocation of a new 157 million-euros-worth installment under the Growth Plan was announced at the event, after 18 reform commitments had been fulfilled.

“This means additional resources for investments in transport, energy, water and sanitation, healthcare and education. It is also confirmation that what we are doing at home–the reforms we are completing and the institutions we are strengthening–is turning into concrete opportunities for the country’s development,” Alexei Buzu said.

The secretary-general of the government noted that the meeting in Brussels had addressed the progress achieved by Moldova, the next stages of the European Union accession process and the priorities for the upcoming period.

“European integration is achieved through completed reforms, better-functioning institutions and results that citizens can see in their daily lives. With every commitment fulfilled, we are closer to our goal,” the official emphasized.

Alexei Buzu thanked colleagues from the institutions of Moldova, who contributed to fulfilling the reform commitments, as well as the European partners for their support and confidence in the country.

“We continue our work responsibly, for the people of Moldova,” the secretary-general of the government concluded.

The European Commission ruled to disburse 157 million euros to Moldova under the Growth Plan, after positively assessing the fulfillment of 18 reforms undertaken by the authorities. The decision was announced in Brussels today, during the 10th meeting of the EU–Moldova Association Council.
