The National Crisis Management Commission (CNMC) met today to establish the necessary measures in the context of the state of emergency in the hydrological sector.

The CNMC decided to release three high-capacity water pumps from the state reserves and temporarily provide them to Apă-Canal Chișinău. The measure aims to reduce risks related to the population’s water supply and the operation of essential services.

The pumps have a capacity of up to 1,000 cubic meters of water per hour each and may be used to support the operation of the water intake and supply system under the current hydrological conditions.

“Our priority is to ensure that people have water at their taps and that essential services operate without interruption. Therefore, we must act preventively and make all necessary resources available to operators before risks turn into problems for citizens,” said Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, chair of the National Crisis Management Commission.

The equipment was transferred by the Material Reserves Agency to Apă-Canal Chișinău, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment. The pumps are being provided on loan for the duration of the state of emergency and will subsequently be returned to the state reserves.

The measure complements the actions previously ordered by the CNMC to manage risks in the hydrological sector and ensure the continuity of water supply services. The state of emergency in the energy and hydrological sectors was declared by Parliament on September 22, 2026, for a period of 60 days.
