VIDEO // President on Teacher's Day: Thank you for work you do every day for every child

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu addressed teachers today on Teacher's Day, celebrated on October 5, thanking them for the work, patience, and dedication they demonstrate in their daily activity.

“Thank you for the work you do every day for every child. I know from my own experience how much of the work done in the classroom is taken home and how much patience, energy, and dedication the teaching profession requires,” Maia Sandu said.

The head of state emphasized that today's generations of children will live in a world different from the one in which previous generations grew up, where artificial intelligence, disinformation, and changes in the labor market will play an increasingly important role.

“They will enter a labor market where artificial intelligence will be able to take over more and more of the tasks that people perform today. Therefore, schools must provide them not only with solid knowledge, but also with the ability to think critically, ask questions, find solutions, and adapt. They must teach them to distinguish truth from manipulation and to use artificial intelligence as a tool, not to replace their own intellectual effort,” the president noted.

Maia Sandu said that teachers cannot face all these challenges alone and highlighted the state's role in creating better conditions for teaching staff.

“The state must create better conditions in schools, continue reducing bureaucracy, provide opportunities for professional development, and offer salaries that reflect the importance of this profession. Teachers also need the respect and support of society,” the head of state said.

The president also advocated strengthening the partnership between schools and families.

“School and family must be partners. Only together can we prepare our children for the world of tomorrow,” Maia Sandu concluded, wishing teachers a “Happy Teacher's Day!”

In the Republic of Moldova, Teacher's Day is celebrated annually on October 5. Events dedicated to teaching staff are organized on this occasion, highlighting the role of teachers in shaping and educating new generations.
