Chisinau, October 1, 2026 – MP Veronica Briceag, a member of the Moldovan parliament’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) and of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment, Climate and Green Transition, has participated in the 67th Meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Economic Policy and Development. The meeting took place on September 29–30, 2026, in Burgas, Bulgaria.

The participants in the meeting discussed the impact of climate change on the member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), with a focus on its economic implications. Parliamentarians emphasized that climate change was no longer merely an environmental issue, but also one with direct effects on the economies and development of states.

In the context, Moldova’s vulnerability to climate risks and natural disasters was also highlighted, due, among other factors, to the economy’s dependence on the agricultural sector and the population’s high level of exposure.

The meeting also addressed issues related to strengthening regional cooperation and identifying common solutions for managing the effects of climate change and the related risks.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation was established by representatives of the parliaments of nine countries in Istanbul in 1993. Presently, PABSEC includes parliamentary delegations from the 12 member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
