Priorities of Moldova-Germany development cooperation discussed at Moldova's government
Moldovan-German consultations on development cooperation were held at the government on September 30-October 2, within the Strategic Dialogue between Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany.
The discussions were attended by a delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), as well as representatives of the German Embassy, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the German Development Bank (KfW) and the German National Metrology Institute (PTB).
The German delegation held meetings with representatives of the State Chancellery, the Bureau for European Integration and the ministries responsible for areas covered by the Moldovan-German cooperation.
The discussions focused on cooperation priorities and directions for the period 2027–2028, including in the context of Moldova’s European integration process. The sides analyzed the country’s current needs and the areas in which Germany’s support can contribute to implementing reforms and promoting the economic and social development of the country.
The topics addressed included the reform of central and local public administration, economic development and increased competitiveness, the labor market and vocational education, energy security and efficiency, regional development, water and sanitation infrastructure, as well as reforms related to the process of accession to the European Union.
A separate subject concerned the identification of new cooperation and funding opportunities tailored to Moldova’s development priorities.
The dialogue reaffirmed the importance of the Moldovan-German partnership in supporting Moldova’s reforms and development objectives, as well as the shared interest in strengthening cooperation in the period ahead.
