Moldovan president meets North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall in Chisinau
President Maia Sandu received Elaine Marshall, Secretary of State of North Carolina, in Chisinau today. The meeting took place in the context of the Moldova–North Carolina Bilateral Committee’s meeting and marks 25 years of civil partnership and 30 years of cooperation between the National Army of Moldova and the North Carolina National Guard.
The discussions covered more areas of collaboration, including strengthening institutional capacities, educational exchanges, agriculture and defense modernization. Both sides highlighted the progress of Moldova in consolidating democracy and advancing the European integration process, as well as the strategic importance of the country for regional stability. On the margins of the meeting, Major General Todd Hunt, Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard, was decorated by President Maia Sandu with the Order of Honour for his contribution to the bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.
