Moldova consolidates mechanism for implementing international sanctions with EU's support
A mission of experts is taking place in Chișinău on Aprul-14-16, 2026. The mission is organized through the European Commission’s TAIEX instrument and is dedicated to strengthening the institutional capacities of Moldova in the field of implementing international restrictive measures.
The event brings together around 35 representatives of the authorities and institutions in charge of monitoring and enforcing sanctions and is organized in cooperation with the State Chancellery and the project, Moldova is Europe – Support for EU Integration, funded by the European Union and Denmark.
During three days, experts from Croatia, Germany and Slovenia are providing practical support to national authorities in aligning with European standards on the implementation of restrictive measures, strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, improving monitoring systems and preventing attempts to circumvent sanctions.
“The TAIEX expert mission is not only aimed at strengthening our national team, which is already well trained and highly qualified. Our goal is to deepen our understanding of how restrictive measures must be applied correctly, to identify where gaps exist, and to find ways to implement them more effectively,” said Alexandru Iacub, Deputy Secretary General of the Government.
This initiative is part of Moldova’s efforts to move closer to the European Union and to strengthen public institutions, in order to ensure the effective, coherent and transparent application of international sanctions.
