Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu visited the rescuers and firefighters unit, inaugurated in Ocnița a year ago. The station was built from the ground up in line with European standards and serves 33 localities, including three towns—Ocnița, Otaci and Frunze—and 30 villages.

The unit is equipped with three heat pumps and a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 55 kW, which supplies the building with renewable energy throughout the year, making it practically a fully autonomous facility.

The modernized building includes office spaces, training rooms, bays for intervention vehicles, multifunctional rooms, as well as storage facilities for equipment. As a result, the working conditions of rescuers and firefighters have been significantly improved, and the capacity to respond to emergency situations has increased, directly benefiting citizens in the region.

The official praised the dedication and professionalism of Ocnița Unit team, emphasizing that thanks to them, citizens feel safe. The Prime Minister thanked them in particular for their prompt intervention in managing the Dniester River pollution crisis, caused by attacks from the Russian Federation, and presented them with the Government’s Certificate of Merit as a sign of high appreciation for their efforts and demonstrated sense of responsibility.

Ocnița station was built under the U.S. assistance program, with financial support from the American people amounting to 1.3 million dollars, and a contribution of 1.8 million lei from the Government. This is the 17th station put into operation thanks to the support provided by the U.S. Government.
