Moldovan, Dutch Prime Ministers discuss European path and investments
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan discussed the Republic of Moldova’s European path, the Netherlands’ support for the country’s accession to the European Union, as well as investment and economic cooperation with his Dutch counterpart, Rob Jetten, in New York.
He noted that the discussion also had a personal significance for him.
„I was pleased to meet with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten in New York. For me, this discussion also had a personal significance: I lived and worked in the Netherlands for a period of time and know the country well, including the direct way in which its people view things and their culture of turning ideas into concrete results,” Vasile Tofan wrote.
During the meeting, the officials discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, including attracting more Dutch companies to the Republic of Moldova.
The Prime Minister noted that the Netherlands’ experience could serve as a benchmark for the economic and institutional development of the Republic of Moldova.
„For me, the Netherlands is also an example of how a relatively small country can have a strong economy, solid institutions and an important voice in Europe. There are many lessons from this experience that could also be useful to us,” Vasile Tofan said.
Vasile Tofan is in New York from September 23 to 26, where he is participating in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
