DOC // Regulation on e-Consulat System published in Official Journal

The Government Decision on the creation of e-Consulat Information System was published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova today. It will enable the integration of consular services provided by diplomatic service institutions into a single virtual space, following the model of a one-stop electronic consular service.

The system’s creation aims to modernize and streamline the way consular services are provided to citizens of the Republic of Moldova living abroad.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi presented the draft decision at the 16 September cabinet meeting. He noted that the system had been piloted in previous months and improved during the testing process.

“The Government has committed to building a strategic relationship with our diaspora citizens and the foundation of this relationship is the provision of quality consular services in a timely manner through the maximum digitalization of these services,” said Mihai Popșoi.

According to the minister, the new system will modernize the provision of consular services and give diaspora citizens access to them in a digital format.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, for his part, said that the digitalization of consular services is expected to contribute to their increased efficiency. “I hope that the new e-Consulat System will make us faster and more efficient,” he said.

The administration, maintenance, and continuous development of the e-Consulat System will be funded within the limits of the financial resources allocated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the annual budget law, as well as from other sources, in accordance with the legislation.
