Estonia backs Moldova's European integration
Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/- Estonia supports Moldova’s European integration and this year provided funding for several projects in our country worth about one million euros. Prime Minister Pavel Filip made the statement at a joint conference with Estonian Premier Jüri Ratas.
Filip said that the meeting focused on issues related to the bilateral cooperation relations, Moldova’s European integration and regional security.
“I had with my counterpart useful and sincere discussions, both in terms of relations between our countries, which we found to be good, and the challenges in the region and the European path of our states. I thanked Estonia for the financial assistance to Moldova worth one million euros. Estonia is a friend of Moldova and as many friends as Moldova has, the easier the European way is,” Filip said.
The official noted that another important topic included in the agenda was the resolution of the Republic of Moldova at the UN on the withdrawal of the Russian armed forces from the districts of the country, which Estonia supports, being one of the co-authors of this document.
Jüri Ratas said that Moldova is one of the most important countries with which Estonia cooperates.
“We have 18 active projects and 10 other projects due to be implemented in Moldova, actions meant to develop this country. We are also ready to collaborate on security. Students are welcome to study in Estonia. We're ready to help you with border management systems. I am glad to see that Moldova is visible and has a European path,” he said.
Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas is on a 17-19 June visit to Chisinau. The official will have meetings with several senior officials, will visit the National Health Insurance Company and will hold a public lecture for the State University students on the European integration experience of Estonia.
