Chisinau, March 7 / MOLDPRES /- The Moldovan authorities have already taken some insurance decisions and are constantly monitoring the country's food security in the context of the war in Ukraine. The statement was made today by Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa during a press conference.

"We have imposed some restrictions on the export of corn and other foodstuffs, and we intend to make other decisions related to the economic reorientation of the country, which will come with some transaction costs," the prime minister said.

At the same time, Gavriliţa said that in recent years, the economy of the Republic of Moldova has been increasingly oriented towards trade relations with the European Union. "Thus, at present, the share of trade with Ukraine and Russia, states involved in the war, is only 15%," she said.

The prime minister also referred to the rise in gas prices, the cost of which has reached historic levels today. "It's a worrying increase. What is happening is inadmissible and we will discuss it with external partners. We hope that the war will end and that we will be able to return to this subject in normal conditions ", said Gavriliţa.

In other news, the Prime Minister also exposed the warnings of the self-proclaimed rmn after the Republic of Moldova submitted its application for membership in the European Union.

"Such requests have been made for 30 years. Such warnings were also issued when Moldova joined various international bodies and when it signed the Association Agreement with the EU. For the time being, we have no signals about the involvement of the Transnistrian region in military actions in the context of the war in Ukraine ", said Gavriliţa.
