Moldovan parliament speaker announces future coalition partners of Action and Solidarity Party in parliament, reveals details on negotiations with other parties

The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) is ready to create a coalition in the future parliament only with political forces that firmly support the European integration. Parliament speaker, PAS president Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect at a show titled, Secrets of Power, broadcast on Jurnal TV.

"We will create governing coalitions with those who share our options for European integration, who have a clear position and express it," Grosu said. He noted that coalitions with the National Alternative Movement led by Ion Ceban and with Our Party led by Renato Usatii were categorically excluded.

Igor Grosu confirmed discussions with the parties of the Together Bloc, noting that some politicians from the Dignity and Truth Platform could be included on the PAS electoral list. However, he emphasized that the Party of Change refused to participate on the PAS list.

"Yes, we have had discussions over time. This was a response to multiple requests from our supporters. One of the Bloc's components categorically refused, another one voted not to go together, and the Dignity and Truth Platform is still considering the option of joining the PAS list," Grosu said.

The PAS leader also said that he would top the party's electoral list, followed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

"Yes, I can confirm, I top the list and Mr. Recean is next. The list is not finalized; some adjustments are being made, and discussions are being held with some individuals outside the party; you will see them," Igor Grosu said.

In the context, the parliament speaker stressed that the role of future MPs was not necessarily to write laws, but to contribute their expertise to the legislative process.

"Important legislative drafts must be developed by the government. Lawmakers, including specialists from various fields – engineers, doctors, athletes – should participate in the analysis and improvement of these drafts," Igor Grosu added.
