Hospitalizations, 18 surgeries for severe injuries made at Moldova's Emergency Medicine Institute in last 24 hours

The ice and slippery roads have filled the traumatology wards. In the last 24 hours, 178 people called emergency services reporting injuries. Thirty-nine of them were hospitalized, with doctors managing to perform 18 surgical interventions.

According to data published by the Institute of Emergency Medicine (IMU), 306 visits were recorded in the last 24 hours. Following medical evaluations, 39 patients required hospitalization, having been diagnosed with various types of injuries.

“Due to the severity of the fractures, 18 patients needed surgical interventions. Seventy patients consulted the neurosurgeon, of whom 11 required hospitalization and 2 people underwent emergency surgery,” IMU notes.

On January 28, the situation is more stable, IMU says, noting that a smaller number of patients with injuries has been reported compared to previous days.

Emergency physicians also worked in high-alert mode on January 27. Almost 500 people called the emergency medical service after suffering various injuries as a result of slipping on ice-covered roads, according to data provided by the Health Ministry.
