Moldovan parliament speaker says peaceful settlement of Transnistrian conflict stays top priority
The peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict stays the top priority. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect at a meeting with Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the European External Action Service (EEAS), the EU representative in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
The speaker emphasized that the Moldovan authorities were focusing on the economic and social reintegration of citizens living on the left bank of the Dniester River.
“We are a peaceful country, a country that wants to be part of the free and developed world. This is what we also want for our people on the left bank. We thank the European External Action Service for every assistance provided in recent years. It is very important for us to have reliable partners in the reintegration process, as well as in the process of Moldova’s accession to the EU,” said Igor Grosu.
The European External Action Service, created in 2010, is the diplomatic corps of the European Union and has the mission of implementing the EU’s common foreign and security policy. The EEAS coordinates the EU’s diplomatic missions and delegations worldwide, monitors international crises, develops external cooperation initiatives and provides support to partner states in such areas as security, economic development and the strengthening of democracy.
