Moldova inaugurated Honorary Consulate in Canadian Province of Quebec
The Republic of Moldova has inaugurated an Honorary Consulate in the province of Quebec, an event that marks a new step in strengthening Moldovan–Canadian relations and in supporting the Moldovan community in Canada, estimated at approximately 15,000 people.
On this occasion, Serge Malaison was officially presented as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Quebec City. In November 2025, he paid a visit to the Republic of Moldova, and held meetings at key government institutions to establish the activity priorities of the Consulate.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Canada, the Honorary Consulate will serve as a support point for Moldovan citizens in Quebec and as a platform for developing economic, cultural, and educational cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Canadian province.
The inauguration event was attended by representatives of the National Assembly and the provincial government of Quebec, members of the diplomatic staff, business representatives, members of the Moldovan community, as well as amateur dancers from the Moldovan dance ensemble “DOR”.
The opening of the Honorary Consulate is part of the efforts of the authorities in Chisinau to expand the representation network and to strengthen ties with the diaspora, especially in regions with large Moldovan communities.
