Moldovan parliament convenes at first plenary meetings of spring session

The parliament will convene at the plenary meetings of the spring session starting from 3 February 2026. The parliament’s standing bureau has approved the decision providing for the convening of the plenary meetings and their agenda for the period February 3-5, 2026.

The opening meeting of the spring session will take place on February 3, with the participation of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the Baltic States, announces the Parliament’s Communication and Public Relations Directorate.

The next meeting will take place on February 5, when MPs will examine, in first reading, a string of legislative initiatives. Thus, two EU‑labelled draft laws will be discussed, concerning the use of confiscated assets for social purposes or in the public interest, as well as the prevention and combating of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse committed against children.

At the same time, the lawmakers will consider a draft law concerning the costs of judicial expertise, as well as commercial activities involving illicit devices and topographies of semiconductor products. The deputies will also discuss a draft on exemption from payment of import duties for a bus donated by the Czech Republic to the city of Calarasi, as well as draft amendments to the Fiscal Code and the Audiovisual Media Services Code.

The parliament is to ratify the treaty concluded by the governments of Moldova and Japan, which provides for financial support for the modernization of technical production equipment at the company Teleradio‑Moldova. MPs will also examine the ratification of the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction, adopted in New York on 19 June 2023, as well as Moldova’s accession to the Convention on the Grant of European Patents.

Also, at the plenary meeting due on February 5, a simple motion regarding the policies of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, submitted by a group of opposition MPs, will be examined.

The 2026 spring session starts on 2 February, according to an order signed by   Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

According to the parliament’s rules of procedure, the spring session begins in February and cannot extend beyond the end of July.
