Travel advisory for North Macedonia: freight carriers’ protests at border crossings
The Embassy of Moldova in Bulgaria informs that, starting from January 26, 2026, protest actions by freight carriers take place at more border crossing points in North Macedonia, which may affect the movement of commercial vehicles.
According to the Embassy, the protests are announced at the border crossing points of Deve Bair, Delchevo, Novo Selo, Dojran, Bogorodica, Medzitlija, Kjafasan, Blace and Blato and could be extended for a period of up to seven days. In the context, traffic for freight vehicles will be restricted both on entry and exit, with the exception of transports of medicines, live animals and those with special security status.
The authorities specify that these actions are part of a broader wave of protests by carriers from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia, which has led to the blocking of some border crossings for the movement of goods to and from the European Union.
At the same time, passenger and car traffic is not affected and will proceed without impediments at all border crossing points. Citizens of Moldova are nevertheless urged to avoid, as far as possible, the affected border areas, to stay informed constantly about traffic conditions and to follow the instructions of the local authorities.
For difficult situations or emergencies on the territory of North Macedonia, Moldovan citizens can call the emergency phone number of the Embassy of Moldova, based in Sofia, at +359 877 819 314.
