More legislative transparency in Moldova's parliament: equipment for live broadcast to be upgraded with Switzerland's support

The equipment used for live broadcasting of public parliamentary meetings will be upgraded, with costs covered by Swiss development partners. The parliament’s secretariat has announced the launch of a public procurement procedure for video cameras, software and other equipment needed to ensure live transmissions.

Through this investment, the parliament aims to enhance the transparency of legislative activity and public access to information. The objective is set out in the Roadmap on the Functioning of Democratic Institutions, a document through which Moldova has committed to align its national regulatory framework with the European Union acquis.

“It is planned to modernize the equipment in the plenary session hall, the Europe Hall, as well as in other rooms where meetings of standing commissions, public consultations and other events are held. The total investment amounts to approximately 2 million lei and is financed by Switzerland. The procurement is necessary because the equipment currently used by parliament for live broadcasts was installed 13 years ago,” the parliament’s press release reads.

At present, parliament broadcasts live all plenary meetings of the legislature. The work of standing commissions and other public events can also be followed.

According to official data, in 2025 alone, the total duration of live broadcasts amounted to 307 hours and 25 minutes. At the same time, only half of the rooms where meetings of standing commissions are held are currently equipped for live transmissions.

Between April 2025 and March 2029, the parliament is benefiting from the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation project, Strengthening Parliamentary Democracy in Moldova (PADEM), implemented by DAI Global Belgium.
