
Moldovan-Lithuanian agreement on mutual recognition of driver's licences signed in Vilnius
Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - State Secretary at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry Veaceslav Dobanda and Interior Minister of Lithuania Agnė Bilotaitė signed the Moldovan-Lithuanian inter-governmental agreement on the mutual conversion and recognition of the driver’s licences in Vilnius today. The document was signed following the agreements reached during the visits to Chisinau by Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda and Foreign Affairs Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
„The agreement’s provisions will provide Moldova’s citizens with permanent or temporary residence in Lithuania with a string of benefits, such as the exemption from schooling and additional examination at the conversion of driver’s licences related to this process, free movement in international traffic, including the facilitation of the labour contracts,’’ State Secretary Veaceslav Dobanda said at the signing ceremony.
The visit to Vilnius by the Moldovan diplomat is held at an invitation by the chancellor of the Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Inga Černiuk.
The agenda at the Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Ministry included also consultations with state secretary Mantas Adomėnas, the political director general, heads of the sectoral subdivisions, in order to strengthen the functional competences and exchange expertise in the fields of mutual interest.
The sides also discussed the agenda of reforms on the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Area, the Eastern Partnership’s Summit, bilateral political consultations, assistance for development.
