At a today’s news conference, the Mission’s head, Tamás Meszerics, unveiled the agenda and the way of organizing the work within the elections’ monitoring process. ‘’Moldova is on the second position in a ranking of the number of parliamentary elections observed by OSCE/ODIHR. This proves the Moldovan authorities’ confidence in the OSCE institutions,’’ Meszerics said.
According to the OSCE representative, the snap parliamentary elections will be monitored by a mission made up of 39 experts from 11 countries. The key sectors due to be observed deal with the processes of candidates’ registration, the way the campaign is held, settlement of electoral litigations and post-electoral developments.
At the same time, Meszerics specified that the way of observation would one without the mission’s interference with the electoral processes and would be carried out based on professionalism and fairness. ‘’The teams of observers will be made up of two international experts, who might be joined by observers of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly or on behalf of the Council of Europe,’’ the international official noted.
The first conclusions of the OSCE/ODIHR observational mission will be made public at a news conference on 12 July.
Also today, the OSCE/ODIHR members had a meeting with the Central Electoral Commission members.
