Romanian Prime Minister in Chișinău

Today Moldova represents an example of courage, having managed to withstand pressures, energy blackmail, propaganda and hybrid aggression. Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan made the statements during a visit to Chișinău. Bucharest official assured that Romania will continue to build new bridges of connection with Moldova.

'In difficult times faced, the Government of Chișinău made difficult but correct decisions. President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean have shown determination, maintained the sovereignty and independence of the state, and earned the respect of their own citizens and European partners. It is not an easy path; Moldova had to face the greatest challenges of recent decades, but moved forward with dignity,' said Bolojan.

Bucharest official assured that Romania will continue to build new connections with the Republic of Moldova, 'as befits sister countries sharing a language, history, and common values.'

The Romanian Prime Minister emphasized that Romania's experience as a member state of the European Union can be direct support for Chișinău.

'We know what European integration means. Since Romania's accession in 2007, we have benefited from over 100 billion euros from European funds, which have positively transformed local communities, economy and infrastructure. This transformation can also occur here, in Moldova - from Chișinău to Cahul, from Briceni to Bălți, from Șoldănești to Ungheni and Comrat,' he stated.

Ilie Bolojan welcomed the fact that the Republic of Moldova has secured its European path through a referendum, considering this step 'a long-term commitment for future generations.'

The Romanian official also recalled the concrete support provided by Romania over the years: the construction of kindergartens and schools, the modernization of hospitals, the restoration of historic monuments, and the supply of energy resources in times of crisis.

'There is a special and unique bond between our states. Over the last 35 years, we have transformed the barbed-wire fence into a space of hope, friendship, and solidarity,' he highlighted.

Finally, the Romanian Prime Minister reaffirmed unconditional support for the Republic of Moldova:

'We will continue to stand by you, regardless of the times. Romania respects the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova, being the partner of every Moldovan citizen who wishes to live in a prosperous and free state. The European path is the way to a better life and to the consolidation of freedoms in this country.'

Ilie Bolojan is visiting the Republic of Moldova at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart Dorin Recean. The Romanian official was welcomed in the morning at Leușeni-Albița crossing point, where the two prime ministers discussed facilitating traffic and coordinated border control. Subsequently, an official meeting and press statements followed at the Government.

Ilie Bolojan will be received by President Maia Sandu. The agenda includes participation in the National Treasure Festival 2025 in Horești, Ialoveni, and discussions with citizens in the village of Bardar.
