Prime Minister after meeting with his Romanian counterpart

Romania will remain a firm supporter of the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and the Moldovan-Romanian partnership will continue to ascend for the benefit of the citizens of both countries. The modernization projects and the objectives set together for the upcoming period were discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and his Romanian counterpart, Ilie Bolojan, who is on an official visit to our country.

During the press conference, the Chișinău official said that the relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Romania has been built over the years on people-to-people ties, emphasizing the joint effort of both nations in ensuring peace, prosperity and democracy.

"In recent years, we have supported each other in the face of difficulties, against interference from foreign forces in our elections, but we have also celebrated each other's successes with the same joy. Romania is with us in building the European path of the Republic of Moldova at every step. The partnership between our governments, our companies, theaters, and universities is materializing in concrete results for the people on both banks of the Prut," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Recean spoke about collaboration in the energy sector - half of the electricity consumed in the Republic of Moldova is purchased from Romania at advantageous prices, and interconnection lines are under construction. Vulcănești-Chișinău line is nearing completion. Construction of two more lines - Bălți-Suceava in the north and Strășeni-Gutinaș in the center - is advancing.

According to Recean, the joint projects also include the construction of the bridge at Ungheni-Ungheni and other bridges that will facilitate the movement of citizens and freight carriers. Romania's support is important for including our country in European budget planning and accessing pre-accession funds as soon as possible. Another objective is to harness the commercial-economic potential, increase trade exchanges, create new jobs and increase the number of successful companies on both banks of the Prut.

"We still have a lot to do, and we don't have time to waste. We lost too many years in the past. Chișinău and Bucharest - I am convinced - will one day soon sit at the European decision-making table for the future of the entire continent," mentioned Recean.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said that our country has faced the greatest challenges in recent decades and has managed to secure, in the long term, its European commitment: "The Republic of Moldova is an example of courage for having withstood pressures. I assure you that we will continue to build new bridges to bring us even closer, as is fitting between sister countries that share a language, history and common values," Bolojan emphasized.

Bolojan's visit to the Republic of Moldova began this morning at Leușeni-Albița border crossing point. Officials discussed concrete steps to reduce waiting times at the border and implement the electronic scheduling system so that carriers can register online.

The two prime ministers declared that starting tomorrow, coordinated control will be set up at Galați-Giurgiulești border crossing point, and by the end of this year, the necessary infrastructure will be prepared to establish coordinated control at Sculeni-Sculeni border crossing point. Meanwhile, teams on both banks of the Prut will create a working group to analyze border infrastructure modernization options.
