Romanian Prime Minister visits Chișinău

Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is paying a working visit to Chișinău today.

The agenda includes several activities with Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Recean and a meeting with President Maia Sandu.

According to a press release of Bucharest Government, "the discussions will focus on the main issues and cooperation projects on the bilateral agenda, including projects funded by Romania through non-reimbursable funds, as well as aspects related to the European integration of the Republic of Moldova".

Later, the officials will attend the National Treasure Festival 2025, in the village of Horești, Ialoveni district, and meet with local citizens.

The visit agenda, published by the Romanian Government, also includes a meeting between Ilie Bolojan and Maia Sandu, scheduled for this afternoon.

"Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will reaffirm the special nature of the bilateral relationship, based on sincere friendship and shared history, as well as Romania's strong support for advancing Moldova's EU accession process," the press release reads.

Chișinău Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă previously said "Romania is the closest political and strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova and a consistent supporter of our European integration path".

"There are hundreds of projects funded by Romania through non-reimbursable funds, which have directly benefited villages and towns in the Republic of Moldova. Examples include renovated schools, kindergartens, local roads, and other vital investments for communities," said Daniel Vodă.

This is Ilie Bolojan's first visit to Chișinău since his appointment as Romanian Prime Minister, which occurred in late June.

Ilie Bolojan also visited Chișinău in early March, during the period when he was acting President of Romania.
