Parliament speaker conveys message on 34th anniversary of Moldova's Independence

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, along with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean today participated in the events organized on the occasion of Moldova's Independence Day.

The officials laid flowers at the Grieving Mother monument at the Eternity’ Memorial Complex and at the monument to Stephen the Great and Holy in the center of the capital, paying tribute to those who had contributed to the country's Independence. The solemn ceremony was also attended by MPs and the parliament’s secretariat staff, cabinet members, accredited diplomatic representatives in our country, representatives of central and local public institutions, as well as and citizens.

In his message conveyed on the occasion of Moldova's Independence Day, the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu highlighted the importance of this historic event, expressing gratitude to all those who had contributed to the consolidation of the  independent state. “With each passing year, Moldova becomes more mature, wiser, more resilient, better prepared to face all challenges. Happy Birthday, Moldova! Happy Birthday to all who defended, protected and made it more beautiful and respected worldwide!” Speaker Igor Grosu said.

Throughout the day, events dedicated to Moldova's Independence Day will also be attended by special guests. It is about President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, who will be present at an invitation by President Maia Sandu, in order to celebrate, alongside the country's leadership and citizens, the 34th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Moldova's Independence.

At the same time, today evening, the parliament building will be illuminated in the colors of the national flag.
