European Commission President conveys message on Moldova's Independence Day

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen today conveyed a congratulatory message to the Republic of Moldova and its President Maia Sandu, on the occasion of Independence Day.

"Happy Independence Day to our Moldovan friends and to you, dear Maia Sandu. Today, we celebrate Moldova's democracy, the unbreakable spirit of its people and their love for freedom. We stand by you on the path toward our common European future," wrote Ursula von der Leyen on the platform X.

The Republic of Moldova marks the Independence Day today. President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk are expected in Chisinau.
