President Maia Sandu has visited the agricultural science faculties of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM). The head of state highlighted the changes that had been made at the institution in recent years. “A few years ago, the decision to merge the Agrarian University with the Technical University sparked many criticisms and fears. But now, shortly after, we can already see the results of this decision: renovated laboratories equipped to the highest standards, modern greenhouses and upgraded study halls,” said President Maia Sandu.

The head of state also said that, in the last two years, the state, along with development partners, had invested about 45 million lei in endowing and renewing the infrastructure of agricultural faculties. These changes aroused a renewed interest among young people in these fields and the admission numbers are starting to increase.

“Moldova needs good specialists in agriculture and animal husbandry – to cope with climate change, to grow the livestock sector and to make agriculture competitive. Through serious reforms, we can educate these specialists at home, in our universities,” President Maia Sandu added.
