U.S. Secretary of State: Maia Sandu - first President of Moldova to win second term by popular vote, historic achievement
Chisinau, Nov 5 /MOLDPRES/- U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated Maia Sandu after the presidential elections. He described her re-election for a new term as a historic achievement.
In the message, the US official expressed appreciation to Moldovan people for the commitment to a democracy that reflects the will of the people and for protecting the electoral process from an unprecedented level of interference by Kremlin.
"The United States conveys sincerest congratulations to Maia Sandu on her re-election as President of the Republic of Moldova. President Sandu is the first President of the Republic of Moldova to win by popular vote the election for a second term in office, a historic achievement," the message reads.
The official said the Republic of Moldova has won and Kremlin's attempts to undermine the will of the Moldovan people have failed.
Maia Sandu was re-elected President of the Republic of Moldova on November 3, after defeating her opponent Alexandr Stoianoglo.
