DOC //1,000 lei aid for children to be offered starting 4 September
The aid amounting to one thousand lei, granted by the state to each child from grades I to IX at the beginning of the school year will be available starting 4 September. This is stipulated in a Government decision, which was published today in the Official Journal and came into effect.
Thus, the aid will be offered to about 300,000 students, with an amount of 300 million lei allocated for this purpose.
The one-off aid is provided by the National Social Insurance House to the mother, and in case of her death, to the child's father, based on lists generated from the Education Management Information System (EMIS) by the Ministry of Education and Research.
If the child resides with the father, the one-off aid is granted to the father, based on a written request addressed to the territorial social insurance office, submitted by November 14, 2025. The request must be accompanied by the parent's identity document and the child's birth certificate.
According to the Government decision, the payment will begin on 4 September 2025, and the deadline for collecting the money is 26 December 2025. If the beneficiary does not collect the money by the deadline, the payment ceases.
The money will be directed to the families' bank cards or can be collected at post offices.
The authorities argued that granting the support will help families better prepare for the beginning of the school year, reduce school absenteeism, increase equity in the educational system, and enhance the quality of education.
