Yellow wind warning in Moldova: authorities issue safety recommendations for residents
Wind intensification is forecast in Moldova between April 7, 10:00 a.m. and April 8, 8:00 p.m. According to the warning, the wind will blow from the northwest, with gusts of up to 15–20 m/s, and a Yellow Code for atmospheric instability has been issued.
In the context, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) urges citizens to avoid staying near trees, electricity poles or other objects that can be knocked down by the wind, to refrain from parking vehicles in high‑risk areas and to avoid touching power lines that have fallen to the ground. The population is also advised to limit outdoor travel, to keep windows and doors of homes closed, and to secure light objects around their households.
At the same time, authorities recommend avoiding work at height during strong winds and carefully supervising children, especially in open spaces.
The Police, for their part, warn road users to avoid stopping near trees or billboards, as well as travelling through areas with damaged trees, and to immediately notify the authorities, if they notice any dangers, including fallen power lines.
In emergency situations, citizens are urged to call the 112 Service.
