Earthquake produced in Romania felt also in Chisinau
Chisinau, 01 August /MOLDPRES/ – An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 degrees on the Richter scale took place in Romania, in the Vrancea seismic zone, and was felt in Chisinau with the intensity of 3-3.5 degrees, today.
Interviewed by the agency, director of the Institute of Geology and Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), Igor Nicoara, mentioned that the earthquake occurred at 13:27 at a depth of 97 km.
"Such an earthquake is of medium intensity, it is not felt by all citizens and does not cause material damage or human casualties. According to preliminary data, the earthquake occurred in Vrancea area and was felt in Eastern Romania, in Chisinau, as well as in some localities in Bulgaria and Ukraine. In Chisinau, the earthquake occurred about 20 seconds later. At Cahul, however, magnitude reached 4 degrees on the Richter scale," said Nicoara.
On 25 June, an earthquake of 4 degrees on the Richter scale occurred, which was felt in Moldova, too.
