Free spaces provided to children at parents’ workplace in Moldova
Employers can create free and accessible spaces at companies for employees' children over the age of three. This measure aims to support parents active in the workforce, especially during school holidays, facilitating a balance between professional and family life.
Organizing child-friendly spaces provides a flexible and cost-effective solution to support working parents. These spaces can be used in such situations as institutional holidays, vacations or reduced programs and contribute to increased staff productivity. At the same time, such measures support the continuous participation of women in the labor market and reduce inequities related to child care.
“This initiative meets the needs of working parents and proves that it is possible to build a more flexible and family-friendly work environment. We encourage employers to take advantage of this legal opportunity and contribute to creating a more equitable and inclusive society,” said Alexei Buzu Minister of Labor and Social Protection.
The provision allowing employers to create child-friendly spaces for employees’ children at the workplace was included in a draft recently passed by the parliament in the second reading.
Under these conditions, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection encourages employers from all over Moldova to consider this legal option and contribute to a more inclusive and family-friendly labor market, for the benefit of a more equitable and supportive society.
