Ministry of Defense: Fragments of aircraft found in Orhei examined by responsible institutions
The monitoring systems of the National Army and cross-border cooperation mechanisms recorded on 8 June 2026 at 00:20, the crossing of the state border of the Republic of Moldova by an unmanned aircraft from the direction of the Mihailovca-Lopatna area, the Ministry of Defense announced this morning.
“Following the intervention of specialized structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the discovery of fragments from an unmanned aircraft was confirmed on agricultural land near the locality of Lopatna. The traces found at the scene indicate that an explosion had previously occurred,” the Ministry of Defense stated.
The discovered fragments are being examined to determine the origin of the aircraft and the circumstances of the incident. The responsible institutions continue to document the case and monitor the situation. The Police announced this morning that an unknown aircraft, most likely a drone, exploded last night in the outskirts of the locality of Lopatna, Orhei district. The alert was received around midnight from a resident of Lopatna village, who noticed the flying object and, shortly afterward, a blast. The area was immediately isolated, secured, and monitored in accordance with strict safety protocols. Authorities reported that no one was injured as a result of the incident.
